2026 is off to a great start for Sheffield’s leading property law firm.
Mason Thomas Law is celebrating a major awards milestone after being named as a finalist in six categories across two of the legal sector’s most respected awards programmes.
Additionally, the firm has been shortlisted in the Niche Law Firm and Residential Property categories, while Managing Director and solicitor Cathy Mason has been recognised individually with a nomination for the prestigious Partner of the Year award.
“We are absolutely delighted to be recognised once again in the Sheffield and District Law Society Awards,” said Cathy. “When I established Mason Thomas Law, I did so on the basis that I wanted to do things differently, specifically to speed up the process by providing an accessible service. Our approach is simple: we are all easily contactable, we do what we say we will do, and we keep our clients informed. It really is a winning formula.”
The winners will be announced on Friday 27 February at the annual black-tie Yorkshire Law Banquet, held at the Crowne Plaza Royal Victoria.
National award recognition
Less than two weeks later on 12 March, the Mason Thomas Law team will travel to Manchester Cathedral for the national British Conveyancing Awards 2026, where it has been shortlisted in two categories:
- Commercial Property Team of the Year
- Conveyancing Firm of the Year – North
The shortlisting marks Mason Thomas Law’s first ever entry in the British Conveyancing Awards. The double shortlisting is a significant achievement and a reflection of the firm’s rapid growth in residential conveyancing over the last 12 months.
Within both categories Mason Thomas Law is the youngest law firm with 156 years between it and the oldest finalist.
With the independent judging panel, stringent criteria and reliance on evidence, the British Conveyancing Awards are the standard-setter when it comes to recognising the success of individuals, firms and businesses in the conveyancing sector up and down the country. Mason Thomas Law are among 61 different organisations across 21 categories to be recognised for their commitment to excellence and client service.
The black-tie ceremony in Manchester will be hosted by actor, impressionist and comedian Jon Culshaw.
Residential growth and people-first culture
Achieving two finalist placements in British Conveyancing Awards shortlist reflects a year of exceptional growth for Mason Thomas Law, which has seen residential property transactions increase by 60% and two new members of staff join the team – solicitor Lebby Mahmood and conveyancer Mollie Lancaster.
Despite the significant growth, Mason Thomas Law has recorded zero staff turnover since 2019.
